I mean, is there a way that a player can "recycle" his ships on the planet for resources back? Or the only way you can get rid of your own ships is they are destroyed by other players?

you could enrage an alien who will destroy your fleet (the best way to time this)
but im not sure if this makes sense - to get resources that way.
